Fish Cafe Balgowlah has done it again, bringing home the top award at the 2016 Restaurant and Catering Awards of Excellence.
Fish Cafe Balgowlah was awarded the coveted Consumer’s Choice Award, which saw local residents’ casting vote to determine the best seafood restaurant in metropolitan Sydney.
The award came as a pleasant surprise to restaurant manager Julian Halfacree, who had not expected to take out the coveted title. “The credit is due to our excellent team and the hard work they continue to put in,” he says.
Fish Cafe Balgowlah pride themselves on their high-quality seafood which is hand-selected at the Sydney Fish Markets daily by owner Con Ioannides. Ioannides deals directly with fisherman, oyster farmers, tuna boats and smaller boutique wholesalers to snatch up the very best seafood that Australia and New Zealand have to offer.
The seafood in then processed in-house at The Fish Cafe Balgowlah and its sister venue Pittwater Seafood to ensure optimum freshness is passed on to consumers.
“We pride ourselves on our simple, fresh cuisine. We let the quality do the talking,” says Halfacree.
This award is one of many for the team, who have also been named Best Seafood Restaurant in NSW at the Sydney Fish Market Seafood Excellence Awards twice in a row and the Great Aussie Pie competition at the Fine Food Festival.
“Taking out the Consumer’s Choice award is important to us because it shows that the community are really impressed with out product and service. It’s a huge compliment and we will continue to live up to that very high standard,” says Halfacree.
